About Peter
Peter Apo is an accomplished songwriter, singer, and musician. His recorded music is rooted in the folk-rock genre and his live performances roam the spectrum of folk, blues, standards and Hawaiia. He is a particularly gifted songwriter and his original songs can be sampled in our "Original Music" section.
Peter spent many years as a folk musician based in Los Angeles with the band The Travelers Three who toured the nation's colleges and coffee houses for several years. They recorded 3 albums for the Elektra label and one for Capitol Records. After The Travelers Three disbanded, Peter returned to Hawai'i and in the latter 80's began song writing as a serious avocation. He also embarked on recording several solo albums. These CDs are available for purchase and can be sampled in our Store section.
In 2006–07 Peter launched an all-folk CD titled My Back Pages which commemorates the great folk songwriters and performers like Bob Dylan, Tim Hardin, Jesse Colin-Young, Gordon Lightfoot, The Byrds, The Eagles and others. It is a hallmark CD for anyone who cherishes the timeless music of the era.
In 2007, Peter organized The Rainbow Nation Band with several of Hawaii's best musicians including Zanuck Lindsey – guitar, Shawn Ishimoto – guitar, Dean Taba – bass guitar, Adj Larioza – drums/percussion, Milan Bertosa –alternate Bass guitar and Dan Del Negro – keyboards.
Peter performs live as Peter Apo & the Rainbow Nation Band and is recording new CDs with the band. His latest CD Songwriter is scheduled for release in 2009.
